Paintings of motherhood on exhibition

  • Written by:

A collection of 24 paintings, all made in the semi-realistic style, this solo exhibition was inaugurated by Kiran Manandhar, Chancellor of Nepal Lalitkala Pragya Pratisthan, and Rita Singh Baidya, Chairperson of Nepal Children’s Association.

“The paintings reflect the blend of the motherhood that I observed in the outer world and the motherhood that I imagined,” mentions Dhital, indicating the basis behind the content of the paintings.

“All the paintings were made at the semiconscious level, the state when an artist truly emotes. Though there were some flaws in the technical aspect of some paintings, I believe, such flaws are acceptable as every artist is a learner,” said Kiran Manadhar, who was quite meticulous with the technical work of the paintings.

However, he added, “I am very much impressed by the caliber Rukmani has shown. It is fascinating to see such diversity in the use of colors, all so wisely amalgamated.”

The paintings are composed with acrylic color on canvas. All the works on exhibition are on sale, with prices ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000. The exhibition is scheduled to end on January 7.
