Madheshi engineer Dr. C. K. Raut is under custody of District Police Office, Morang. Undercover Police took him under custody while he was returning after giving activist training in Rangeli, Morang. He was arrested under the proof of him being involved in anti-national integrity activities.

Home Ministry had been keeping him under surveillance because he was giving lectures and trainings about de-integrating the nation. A source claimed that he had been prioritizing the agenda of armed rebellion in his training campaigns.

Who is C.K. Raut?

Born in the Mahadeva village of Saptari district, Nepal, Chandra Kant Raut, who had been working as a scientist in an Americal company, had returned to Nepal in 2011 resigning his post. He is a recipient of Young Engineer Award, Mahendra Vidya Bhooshan, Kulratna Gold Medal and Prof. F. N. Trofimenkoff Academic Achievement Award among others.

He is the founding chairman of Non-residential Madheshi Association which has been active in the international level for the rights of Madheshis registered in America.

He, who had been graduated from Pulchowk Engineering Campus with Electronics Engineering, served as head of department in an engineering college and resigned when he was made the assistant head of department without being asked or informed. He then went Japan with the Monbusho Scholarship provided by the government of Japan.

After returning from Japan in the August of 2004, he had nowhere to go. He then decided, claiming to search for god, to visit Calcutta, Madras, Kanyakumari, Madhurai, Bangalore, Rameshworam and eventually, reached in the divine doors of Saibaba.

His autobiography “Bairag dekhi Bachau samma” states that at this time, he found the ultimate knowledge of identity.

He returned Japan just after a month to complete his Master’s Degree. After the completion of his Master’s Degree, his application for studying PhD in Cambridge University of London was accepted.

There was a controversy going on around Hritik Roshan when he came Kathmandu first time to study engineering and there was a riot after a number of Nepalese were killed in Iraq on time of his return to Japan. He believes and blames both of those events as an act of repression over the Madheshis.

Alliance for “Freedom” of Madhesh

In 2006, Madhesh Aandolan (Madhesh movement) started, where Raut with his rebellion group came to the conclusion that there is no alternative to separate Madhesh, and they established “Alliance for Rights and Independence of Madhesh (AIRM)”.

The main slogan of AIRM was “End of Nepali Colonization and Racial Discrimination; Proper Rights and Freedom for Madhesh and establishment of Republic Madhesh.” Not only did it have its own Flag, but also Raut himself prepared the “National Anthem” for it.

He started making connections with different leaders of Madheshi base to carry on his agenda. He, having an expert knowledge on hacking, even retrieved countless email addresses by his own Spider-program so as to send his rebellious writings to the email addresses.

Mechi-Mahakali Journey

He along with his group made a journey from Mechi to Mahakali with the banner of Non-Residential Madheshi Assosiation to promote his work.

Radical Views

He proceeded to separate Madhesh from Nepal and make it entirely a different country. His beliefs are radical and even offensive to many. He has written autobiography stating his such radical views concerning Madhesh and Nepal. He has even mentioned in his autobiography that if the situation so demands, they should not hold back from violent movement and measures. In a book “Madhesh Sworaj”, he has mentioned that Madhesh should be completely derailed from Nepal. In the book, he mentions that it should have its own army. He believes that even the protection of their rights in the new constitution of Nepal will not solve anything.

He has mentioned and explained in the book the three steps of his non-violent movement : Preparation, Movement & Defence.

He is now in custody of Nepal Police in Morang on the charges of treason. The Nepal Police claims to be investigating the case and has sufficient evidence supporting the charges, and the further investigations involve interrogation with him with the present evidences.
