Leaders throng Gokarna Resort in search of consensus
A meeting of the top leaders of major three political parties—Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)— is underway at Gokarna Resort to find consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution. Three leaders from each party reached the resort early Tuesday morning for discussions.
According to a source, accommodations for the leaders have been prepared in the resort as they are preparing for intense discussions for agreement.
The major parties are contended on issues of form of governance, federalism, judiciary and electoral process. The NC and CPN-UML are trying to come into terms on the contentious issues with seven states structure. However, UCPN (M) has a different stand.
NC President and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel along with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and another leader are taking part in today’s talks.
Likewise, UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha too are present in the meeting.
