GORKHA, JAN 08 – UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai has said the rumour of party split was baseless.

Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Netra Jyoti Primary School at Ghyalchowk-5 in Gorkha on Wednesday, leader Bhattarai said he was for running the party in a democratic manner but not for its division.

“For the consolidation of the party, an extensive discussion on intra-party democracy is necessary,” he stressed.

Leader Bhattarai and fellow leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha have been at loggerheads with the party leadership, especially Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, over the selection of Proportional Representation lawmakers.

Bhattarai and Shrestha have warned that Dahal would have to bear the consequences if he did not revise the list of PR lawmakers which the Chairman had selected in a unilateral way.
