Nepalgunj registered another win in the Senior Women’s National Cricket Tournament on Monday.

Nepalgunj maintained their winning streak in Group B after thrashing Kanchanpur by nine wickets in a one-sided contest while Kathmandu beat Birgunj by five wickets in the other match in Group B. The results saw Nepalgunj remain top in the group with three wins from three matches while Kathmandu moved to third with two wins from three games.

After electing to bat at the TU grounds in Kirtipur, Kanchanpur were bundled out for just 17 runs in 11.5 overs with not even a single batswoman managing to score double figures. Skipper Nary Thapa starred with the bowl with brilliant figures of 5-11 while her opening partner Trishna Singh also picked up four wickets to destroy Kanchanpur’s batting lineup.

Thapa ran through Kanchanpur’s top order dismissing opener Bimala Bhatta (0), Roshani Bohora (0), Bindu Rawal (1) and Jyoti Dahal (2) in the first seven overs as Kanchanpur lost half their side for just eight runs after 6.3 overs. Then Trishna Singh got in the act cleaning up the lower order, finishing with 4-4 to wrap up the Kanchanpur innings. Sita Khadka was the highest scorer with seven runs for Kanchanpur.

In reply, Nepalgunj lost opener Saraswoti GM for a duck to Roshani Bohara but Mamata Thapa (10) and Rekha BC (3) completed the chase after just 5.3 overs.
